I was out on the Manukau on Monday, and the wind got up, so we decided to head back in. On our way in, we saw a boat in destress. They had no ship to shore, or flares or other comms. Swells were two metres and they were taking on water. Two adult males and a 12 year old were on their 5 metre aluminium cuddy cabin boat. Due to the increasing swells, we couldn’t wait for Coastguard so we quickly tied them off and towed them back to French Bay. The OceanPro 530 handled like a dream. In two metre swells, we kept a steady pace and everyone got back safely.
The way the OceanPro handled the swells and wind and tides while towing was outstanding. I and my colleagues, one who is in the Navy, all stated that another boat doing this would definitely struggle, but yours didn’t
